A Pumpkin By Any Other Name...

A pumpkin by any other name is just a just a big squash until you create something with it.  Here are a few suggestions that may or may not be new.

Looks easy enough but may be time consuming.  Then again, so is carving out a spooky face.

Directions for this one suggest first painting the pumpkin black and then following the natural lines with the gold paint.  How about doing several in different combinations?

I can't carry home this many pumpkins but I do like the idea of carving out one's house number.  How about displaying the house numbers or names of guests at a dinner party as a take home favor?

I found no directions for this type of carving but I would suggest drawing the design with a pen and working with a small sharp knife.  Maybe they offer a tool in those kits at Walmart.

I like the idea of the scraps from this creation remaining on the stand.  I see a lot of pumpkins on stands and a few in bell jars.  The lowly squash gets its due this time of the year.

I'm glad to be able to post again and grateful for those who have been in touch.  I have to start to think "blog" again after two years.
